Celebrating Nicholson
It is fitting that we end the 300th anniversary celebrations with a nod to the man who played a big part in the lives of everyone connected to Churcher's by gifting the land at Ramshill in Petersfield in 1881, where the Senior School stands today.
William Nicholson, Churcher’s College Governor and local MP, had purchased the land from Magdalen College, Oxford and made the extraordinary gift to the School. In addition to politics and philanthropy, the Nicholson family also began distilling gin in 1736, predating every other British gin brand and the first to develop what we now know and love as “London Dry Gin”.
Christmas discount – in aid of the Richard Churcher Foundation
To mark the 300th anniversary, Nicholson is very kindly offering a 15% discount to the Churcher’s community on its drinks products bought before the close of business on 31 December 2022. Not only this, but shipping will be free and 5% of all profits will be contributed to the Richard Churcher Foundation. Please visit the Nicholson shop here and use the code “1722” to receive your discount.
Gin tasting event – Friday 3 March
Join other supporters from the Churcher’s community to celebrate Nicholson with a gin tasting event at Petersfield Museum on Friday 3 March. You will also be treated to tours of the award-winning Museum, including the Churcher’s College 300th anniversary exhibit, when Nicholson will also be brought back to life! All proceeds will go to the Richard Churcher Foundation. We hope to see you there…
