We were delighted to welcome over 30 former members of staff back to school on Wednesday 10 June.

Even a sudden downpour and unusually chilly June weather couldn’t dampen the atmosphere. A fantastic number of former colleagues returned to reconnect over tea, scones and cakes, sharing stories, laughter and memories from their time at Churcher's. The afternoon tea, hosted by Headmaster, Mr Williams, and the Development Office, took place in the school's Pavilion, with its familiar views across the cricket and rugby pitches. Guests represented every corner of college life - from language teachers to DT teachers, school secretaries to librarians and caterers. It was wonderful to see such a diverse group gathered under one roof, celebrating the community that has shaped the College over the years.

In total, the attendees represented over six decades! David Chapman, both an OC (67) and a former staff member from 1974-1987 attended with his wife Jane. The Chapmans, who were teachers and also in charge of 'Mount House', one of the boarding houses, spoke fondly of their life and times at the school and commented 'it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces from across the years and the College made us feel most welcome.”

We look forward to next year's Staff Former Tea, and hope to see more staff return to enjoy reminiscing.
