On a glorious Midsummer’s evening, the Summer Party brought together over 230 guests from the Churcher’s Community for its fourth edition, held on the Headmaster’s Lawn with its spectacular views overlooking the school playing fields towards Butser and the South Downs. Once again, everyone got into the spirit of the event, raising over £25,000 for the Richard Churcher Foundation and the Parents' Association.
To get the fun started, upon arrival, guests were each handed a pair of yellow sunglasses courtesy of headline sponsor of the event, Roberts York, and a spanish style fan from party sponsor, KJ Smith - both very helpful in the weather! They were then treated to a welcome glass of Churcher's 1722 fizz or Credita Caelo ale, sponsored by local vineyard, Greyfriars, and microbrewery, Algebrew to get the evening started.
This year, guests had the chance to get their hands on some amazing items and experiences in a silent auction - giant screens and iPads allowed for swift transactions and some highly competitive bidding! Our caterer, Nordic Smokery, provided a delicious BBQ of smoked salmon and pork with various accompanying salads, followed by an amazing array of chocolate brownies kindly donated by Blue Fig, perfectly accompanied by ice creams generously donated by Jude's. After dinner, the audience was kept entertained with the live auction before dancing the night away (many wearing their yellow Roberts York sunglasses!) to the Fabulous Fug Band with their effervescent blend of Soul, Disco and Rhythm 'n' Blues!
Thank you to all our sponsors, donors, volunteers, suppliers and guests who helped make it such a successful event - a proper party which put the 'FUN' back into fundraising!
