On Saturday 2 July Churcher’s College welcomed back the Old Churcherians for the annual Open Day cricket challenge against the 1st XI.
After a week of rain, the sun came out for the day and both teams enjoyed a game that was hard fought but played in a brilliant spirit.
The teams were evenly matched but the OCs stole the bragging rights by the narrowest of margins. The school batted first, scoring 143, which almost proved to be enough, but the OCs squeaked home with 2 wickets to spare.
Head of Cricket, Rob Maier, said: "Open Day gives visitors to the School a fantastic insight into what it means to be a Churcherian (both past and present) and I look at this event as a highlight in our cricketing calendar and a fantastic way to finish the summer term. It is always a great occasion for the school to get together and play against the Old Churcherians. We always look forward to welcoming back the alumni that have given so much to the school over the year. Long may it continue..."
