On Friday evening over 30 parents and friends joined the Development Office for a Cheese and Wine tasting evening hosted by Greyfriars Vineyard. Greyfrairs produced some spectacular wines which complemented the delicious variety of cheeses provided by Churcher's parents Richard and Jennie Royds of The Haslemere Cellar and Cheesebox.

Everyone was intrigued by the back stories to both the names of the wines and also the cheeses, with one wine named after a WWII Special Operations Executive heroine who had trained at the neighbouring Wanborough Manor and a cheese named Waterloo, due to it's close provenance to the Duke of Wellington's Estate. Another of the cheeses had covered food metres rather than miles, in coming from the neighbouring farm's herd of goats!

There is an opportunity to help raise further funds as Richard and Jenny Royds are generously donating 20% of any orders of cheese received during February as a result of the evening.  Orders can be made using this link. Greyfriars are continuing their generous support of the Richard Churcher Foundation with the sale of Churcher's 1722 Classic Cuvee where for every bottle bought £5 is donated to the Richard Churcher Foundation.

Over £1,500 was raised for the Richard Churcher Foundation on the night, which exisits to provide transformational bursaries to families whose children would otherwise be unable to benefit from a Churcher's education. If you missed out on this special event, no doubt there will be another opportunity for a cheese and wine tasting at some point in the near future... watch this space!
