The sun came out for the latest edition of the Churcher's Golf Day on Friday 20 May, bringing together members of our whole community including Old Churcherians, Senior School and Junior School parents (past and present), local businesses and other supporters for a competitive but friendly tournament at Petersfield Golf Club.
The day kicked off with bacon rolls, coffee and chat, and a chance for teams to 'size up their opposition' before the main competition began. 14 four ball teams tackled the tough but enjoyable course at Petersfield, with varying levels of success but all in good spirits! Two 'halfway houses' well stocked with Churcher's 1722 pale ale and snacks ensured players were well fed and refreshed as they made their way round the course. The afternoon ended in style with a 'pie and mash' dinner at Petersfield Golf Club, during which the raffle was drawn, heads or tails decided and the prizes and winning trophy were handed out. Then, for those still going, it was off to the Queen's Head for more Churcher's 1722 and pizzas!
Congratulations to all the competition winners, the winning team, 'We'll Hit a Par Three This Time' and to winning captain, Brad Smith, the new custodian of the coveted but not so 'Green Jacket'.
Thank you to our sponsors for the day - Agilico, Alitex, Navigate Capital Management, Robison and Sodexo Independents and to all the volunteer helpers who made the day such a success. Together, with all your support, we raised over £4,000 for the Richard Churcher Foundation, which provides bursaries to families whose children would otherwise be unable to benefit from a Churcher's Education.
The Golf Day is a hugely enjoyable and popular event in our calendar, so please look out for next year's date so you can join in the fun. All abilites are welcome!
