Friday 8 October finally saw the resurrection of Churcher's Golf Day bringing together members of our whole community including Old Churcherians, Senior School and Junior School parents (past and present), local businesses and other supporters together to participate in a competitive but friendly tournament at Petersfield Golf Club.
With a great sense of camaraderie and the barometer set to 'fair' the event kicked off with 'bacon butties', coffee and chat before the main competition began. A full complement of 18 four ball teams signed up for the event and the players teed off with a shotgun start. The competition was stiff but the atmosphere was convivial throughout, helped by two 'halfway houses' well stocked with Churcher's 1722 pale ale, other beverages and snacks, generously provided by the school caterers and event sponsors Sodexo Independents. The afternoon ended in style with a 'sausage and mash' dinner at Petersfield Golf Club, during which the raffle was drawn and the prizes and winning trophy were handed out.
Thanks to our sponsors for the day - Sodexo Independents, Alitex, Navigate Capital Management, Agilico and Robison and all those who provided items for the raffle.
The day was a great success and £3,700 was raised in aid of the Richard Churcher Foundation, firmly positioning the Golf Day as a popular annual event in the Churcher's calendar. Be sure to sign up next year!
