Old Churcherians David Best (50) and his brother Peter (52) were pupils at Churcher's College college from 1945 to 1952. They were born and brought up in Sheet where they lived until their family emigrated to New Zealand in 1952. David celebrated his 90th birthday in November 2024 with a small party amongst family and friends at the rest home where he is now living. One of the highlights of the occasion was David and Peter’s hearty rendition of the Churcher’s school song, which was well-known at that time. Together they sang all of the verses and mostly from memory! David's wife Ann said 'It was very moving and most impressive'. The photo shows them in full flight.
We would like to congratulate David on his 90th birthday and our congratulations go to both David and Peter on remembering the school song from the 1950s!
