OC Dan Shaw (22) was selected to play for the GB under 19 American Football Team against France in Coventry on Friday 15 September. Dan, who reads History at Durham University, attended both Churcher's Junior and Senior Schools and played rugby for Churcher's College and Petersfield Rugby Club prior to being headhunted during Freshers' Week at Durham University. Dan, who was happy to try a different sport for a bit of variety thought he 'might as well see how it goes'. From that moment on he has not looked back! After four rounds of selection Dan was chosen to play for the GB team - 'something I didn't expect at all when I started' he explained.
Dan, who plays as an offensive lineman, highlighted that 'one of the big differences I found between the two sports is that American Football is much more specialised into specific jobs which means you can focus on just the parts of the game you enjoy the most or are best at.'
We would like to congratulate Dan on his selection and wish him every success for his future in the GB team!
