In November 2022, accomplished trumpet player and OC Lucy Humpris (14) played a concerto at the Petersfield Festival Hall featuring Tchaikovsky's overture Romeo & Juliet in B Minor, Arutunian Trumpet Concerto in A flat major and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor Op.36.

After attending Churcher's College, Lucy graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with First Class Honours (BMus) in 2019, where she was a recipient of the Winifred Agnes Disney scholarship.  In 2020 she performed on a CD of organ works by Cecilia McDowell, with organist William Fox, which was released in 2021 on Naxos.

Lucy has performed internationally as a guest recitalist at the 2018 International Trumpet Guild Conference in San Antonio, Texas.  Performing an original programme which included her own arrangement of Janacek's In The Mist and Respighi's Ancient Airs and Dances, she also gave the world premiere of Ostria, by Greek composer Fillipos Raskovic.  The Brass Herald cited "capitating...soothing lyrical playing... her inventiveness knows no bounds" and published an interview with her in its October 2018 issue.

Other recent highlights include recitals at Lichfield Festival, Brighton Festival, Petworth Festival and Winchester Cathedral as well as performances at Charlton house and St James' Church Piccadilly.   A composer and arranger, Lucy has arranged many works, and an invitation to Dartington International Festival allowed her to work with several composers with a view to commissioning new trumpet works; something she is passionate about.  In 2019 she returned to Dartington to perform Birtwistle and Cage, also working with Birtwistle and young composers in creating new works for trumpet and string quartet.  She has also performed at the Imagine Music festival at the Southbank Centre, in a new one-woman show titled The Secret Life of Trumpets, introducing the trumpet to children through storytelling.

Lucy is releasing her debut album Obscurus on 31st March with award winning pianist Harry Rylance on Rubicon Classics.   Alongside her album she will be releasing several short films for some of the pieces.  The album should be available on all streaming platforms and physical copies on amazon and presto classical.
