In early May, we were finally able to welcome Old Churcherian Commander William (Bill) Evershed (55) to a Tuesday afternoon CCF Parade to present the Annual Commander Bill Evershed Award to the 2021/22 recipient Cadet Warrent Officer Mark Childs (22).
The award is presented to the Senior Cadet of the Royal Naval section of the Churcher’s College Combined Cadet Force each year in recognition of the time and commitment they have given to the CCF and the role model they are for the lower ranks. Mark has also been the Contingent Senior Cadet and in November last year commanded the Petersfield Town Remembrance Sunday Parade. On parade for this and under Mark's command were Veterans, Royal British Legion, Churcher's and The Petersfield School CCF, Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides, Brownies and Rainbows.
Contingent Commander Andy Rowley congratulated Mark on the award, thanking him for his outstanding leadership this year and for being an exemplary cadet throughout his time in the CCF. After the presentation Mark took Bill on a tour of the CCF activities where they were able to compare their experiences as Cadets at Churcher's albeit almost 70 years apart!
Thank you to Bill and a big well done to Mark.
