If you are down on the Basingstoke Canal on a Sunday morning this winter you will be able to see the latest addition to the kayak fleet used by the students training hard for the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Marathon, which takes place from the 15 to 18 April this year, after a hiatus of 2 years due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
There has been much competition amongst the paddlers to be the ones to use the new craft since it's arrival at the beginning of the year. It has been given the full 'Churcher's Treatment' and named in honour of the Tutt Family who made a gift to enable its purchase, which was matched by the Parents' Association.
Andy Rowley Head of Adventurous Activities said: "This is an absolutely beautiful craft and looks magnificent in the school colours. We are very excited about taking this boat onto the water as our 2022 squad continues to train and prepare in readiness for the 2022 DW race. I know that there will be great competition amongst the crews to have the opportunity to paddle this new, state of the art, K2 racing kayak."
