Peter Salwey (76) informed us of John's death following a post by John's son, Tom, on Facebook.
Tom posted "I'm sorry to say that yesterday morning John died of heart failiure. Due to current circumstances we are unsure when or how a memorial service can be held but in the meantime I know he'd appreciate it if you raised a glass of gin in his memory."
