In memoriam |
We recently received the sad news that at the end of August, Graham Brooks had died. Kay, Graham's wife of 74 years, telephoned to tell us a little more about her beloved husband...
Graham, who studied at Churcher's in the 1940s had a zest for life. He threw himself into everything at school, including playing for the cricket team; and as a result of his excellent capabilities and esteem he was appointed as the school's drum master, he also impressively held the position of Captain of Rugby. Graham was at school with his brother, Donald, who later became the Headmaster.
After Churcher's, Graham began his career in journalism, having ruled out teaching due to a lack of local teaching placements. He worked locally as a junior journalist in and around Petersfield, rising quickly into senior roles across the local area, resulting in a fulfilling career which spanned 44 years. Deeply respected and admired, Graham was awarded an MBE in 1993.
Graham was a much loved husband to Kay, and adored father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
