Coffee, Croissants and Careers

On Friday 26th November we hosted our final Coffee, Croissants and Careers of the term. This time, we concentrated on careers in the charity and not-for-profit sector (also known as the third or voluntary sector). We had representatives from charities of all sizes – from small, local, ones to massive national and international ones. It was brilliant to learn about the vast array of roles in this sector and the opportunities available.

At every Coffee, Croissants and Careers event, our networker spend a couple of minutes introducing themselves to the group. They are all asked to offer advice to their 16-year-old self and it is always a particularly insightful and inspiring part of the event. This time was no exception with some wonderful and sage advice being offered including...

‘Don’t be afraid to give it a go...’

’Everyone responds to a big smile and lots of enthusiasm....’

‘Feedback is always constructive and good...’

‘Have a growth mindset...’

‘Do what you are passionate about and what drives you...’

‘You always have time in your life to make a decision...’

‘Face to face communication is always better...’

‘Treat people as you would like to be treated...’

‘You may always have known what you want to be – don't always listen to your parents’

‘You don’t have to be perfect...’

That is certainly a lot of great advice for when you are 16 – or indeed any age. Thank you so much to all those who took part and for making it such an insightful, fun and successful event.
