300th |
Donors to the Richard Churcher Foundation during the 300th anniversary celebrations have been recognised through the creation of the new Tercentenary Path.
All those from the wider Churcher's Community, including Old Churcherians, parents, staff and pupils, who raised £300 or more had the option of being recognised through named stones on the new path at the back of Old College, which have now been laid.
On 31 March, fittingly on Founder's Day, a time capsule containing memorabilia from the tercentenary was buried by First Year pupils underneath a commemorative stone recognising the original bequest from our founder, Richard Churcher, which helped to establish the School. The same pupils contributed to the contents of another buried time capsule remembering Queen Elizabeth II, which included stamps, newspaper articles and coins among other items.
We invite all of you to come and see the Tercentenary Path next time you visit Churcher's, especially if your name is on one of the stones!
For those of you new to the School or have missed out, I am pleased to let you know that we have decided to continue to offer recognition opportunities to those who make a cash gift to the Foundation - whether thi might be a stone on Tercentenary Path, a seat in the Donald Brooks Auditorium or a room in the Music School. For more information, please visit https://community.churcherscollege.com/supportus.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported the Richard Churcher Foundation, whether this was before, during or since the anniversary celebrations. Your support is vital in enabling us to provide bursary awards to families whose children would otherwise be unable to benefit from a Churcher's education.
