There are lots of ways you can boost your employability whilst still at school and the good news is you're probably doing those things already without even realising it.
We asked 20 top professionals their advice on how to boost employability and this is what they had to say:
Joining clubs and societies is one of the best ways to improve your employability skills. You will be able to practise and develop your key skills whilst also demonstrating your initiative and curiosity to future employers.
If you're already engaged in after-school activities, consider taking them to the next level. Perhaps lead a training session at your football club or organise a bake sale to fundraise for your drama club. Reflect on the skills you want to practise and explore ways to highlight them in your existing extracurriculars.
Securing part-time work shows your willingness to learn and your readiness for the world of work. Don't worry if the job itself doesn't feel like your dream career - you will be building key skills which many employers are looking for, such as teamwork, time management and problem solving.
Although it's good to take on additional opportunities, it is also important to not neglect your school work. This is especially true if you are considering a more academic degree such as maths or law.
Your career will be a big part of your future, so it's important that you explore subjects and industries you are truly passionate about. Embrace opportunities to learn and grow in study or recreational activities you really enjoy and your enthusiasm for the field will shine through in any application process.
